Prove It!!
I
remember both saying and hearing these words many times while growing up. We as Christians often say “I hate the sin,
but love the sinner.” Some are able to
separate the two (sin from sinner), but most do not. When a situation presents itself most
“Christians” attack the sinner with the same fervor as the attack upon the
sin. To these Christian I say
“LIAR”. You hate both the sin and the
sinner. I would even question your
relationship with God. I John 3:14-15
We know we have passed from death into life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in
death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a
murderer: And ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Jesus said, “Love the neighbor as
thyself.” Is hating or despising another
following Jesus’ command? I am also
reminded of the principle found in James chapter 2. A “Christian” right with God will separate a
persons appearance and actions from the sinners need for help. Only by separating the sinner from the sin
will a person be able to be reached or helped for Christ’s sake. To you who call yourselves Christian and
proudly say, “I hate the sin, but love the sinner”, I say “PROVE IT”. Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead,
being alone. James 2:17
